Day 2

So im not sure how often I will post blogs but today I feel like I should really vent. Last night I was starving. I think I didn't eat enough calories and when I got home after work I was really feeling it. Since that is normally my time to binge I realized that today I have to be better at eating enough so im not starving and craving food so late at night. I solved the problem by eating a pickle. While I shouldn't have eaten anything, Justin rationalized that I should just eat a pickle since there is like 8 calories in an entire pickle and then go to bed before I get hungry again. haha what would I do without him?

I have also decided to put my face on a picture of a body I want thanks to a handy website. I put this pic on my fridge and on my dresser mirror. I figured the fridge is a great place since I will see my goal before I can pull food out to stuff into my mouth. The mirror in the bedroom is so when I get dressed in the morning, my weight goal is the first thing I see. I have also crafted some before and after pictures of a few of my best friends that have gone through a weight transformation and put them on my fridge (thanks Natasha and Leigh anne, ya'll rock!!)

So with my motivation on the rise, today I kicked butt at the gym. I was on the elliptical for 30 minutes and the treadmill for 30 minutes. Since I was running late for work I decided to do my core workout at home tonight using my handy MTV pilates dvd. Food has been better for me today too. I ate a larger breakfast consisting of apple sauce, a piece of toast, grapes, and a protein shake adding up to about 400 calories. I figured the bigger the breakfast the less I would eat through out the day. It really worked today. I have been less hungry so far. Lunch was a small baked potato and a bowl of green beans.

Tonight I plan on eating dinner as soon as I get home, 6:30ish, and cooking all of my lunches for the week since I start a new job tomorrow. With me getting up earlier, going to work 8-5, then gym 6-8, I should have a stricter schedule and less cravings. Im ready! wish me luck

Day 1 on my journey

So today is my first official day on my journey to lose 70lbs. I woke up this morning had a protein shake with soy milk and fresh fruit that came up to 300 calories. Then my boyfriend and I went to a hiking trail near by. This trail about killed me! We walked up a fairly steep trail for about an hour and then back an hour. That's right 2HOURS of walking on a low mountain trail. I can already feel it in my legs! When I got home I ate a baked potatoe with jalopeno juice and some organic apple sauce. I would estimate this meal was about 400 calories. For dinner I have greenbeans with mushrooms and a slice of toast. This will probably be about 500 calories since we used some cream of mushroom to season it. While I think that I have not accumulated enough calories today, tommorrow will be easier since I will wake up earlier then 10:30.

Once again my biggest concern is after I leave work (where I am now) and go home, how will I avoid the food demon lurking in the house that brings me cravings at night when I know I shouldn't be eating? If anyone has some advice please let me know! Until then stay healthy and wish me luck!

ps...no weight loss yet but this week should yield some good results.

Week 1

I finally came to the realization that trying to lose weight is hard work but can be done. My best friend conquered her struggles with weight and she is my inspiration. My goal is to lose 2 pounds a week after the first week. Since I am a planner, I have decided to make a workout plan to attempt to stick to. If my schedule ends up conflicting I can always alter it later.

Monday - 1 hour of cardio
20 minutes of core exercise
Tuesday - 1 hour of cardio
30 minutes of weight training (upper body)
Wednesday - 1 hour of cardio
20 minutes of core exercise
Thursday - 1 hour of cardio
30 minutes of weight training (lower Body)
Friday - 1 hour of cardio
20 minutes of core exercise
Saturday - 1.5 hours of cardio
Sunday 1.5 hours of cardio

While I realize that this seems like a lot of exercise, I think it is quite achievable. The weekend time will be spent through a combination of gym time and walking through my neighborhood. The weekdays will be at the gym directly after I get out of work. Because my worst time of eating is as soon as I get home, I decided to work out during that time. This way when I do get home all I want is healthy food and the correct portions.

As for eating, I am a new vegetarian. I stopped eating meat this past December. My only struggle is with coming up with new recipe ideas but overall it has really made me more open to trying new vegatables. My goal is to eat 3 regular meals and one afternoon snack before the gym. My calorie intake will be 1800 calories a day. Since losing one pound of weight is 3500 this should allow me to lose my stable 1-2 pounds per week. If not then I will readjust the eating and workout regime. I just want to make sure that I don't eat too much or too little.

Tomorrow is the first day of my change. Wish me luck!!
